Halloween is a good excuse for a game night, and you don’t need consoles, controllers or downloads to have one. If you have a computer, a keyboard and a friend, these 2 player browser games will get you going in seconds.
One honest note: apart from one monster-themed pick, these aren’t Halloween games. They are the best two-player games in our collection, and they work well with a bowl of candy and a spooky playlist. If you’re playing alone, try our list of the best free Halloween browser games instead.
4 two player games for a game night
Here is how the four compare at a glance.
| Game | Players | How you play together | Style |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geometry Vibes Monster | 2 to 4 | One keyboard | Reaction race against monsters |
| Geometry Vibes X Arrow | 2 or more | One keyboard | Precision arcade race |
| Crumple Rumble | 2 | One keyboard or shared touch screen | Silly stickman fighting |
| Obby Highest Jump Ever | 2 | Switch to 2P mode | Climbing and clicking |
Geometry Vibes Monster
Geometry Vibes Monster is the closest thing here to a Halloween game. You pilot a spaceship through spikes and obstacles while waves of monsters, each with their own attack patterns, try to stop you. Its race mode supports two, three or four players on one keyboard: the first player holds Space (or the mouse) to rise and releases to dive, and the extra players use the Up Arrow and A keys. Tip: in race mode, staying consistent usually beats risky overtakes.
Geometry Vibes X Arrow
Geometry Vibes X Arrow has you guiding an arrow through hazardous geometric paths to a portal without touching anything. Each tap or key press changes your altitude, so it is all about rhythm. For multiplayer, the first player uses Left Click or Space, and additional players use H, L and the Up Arrow. Tip: use short bursts of input to correct your height instead of long holds.
Crumple Rumble
Crumple Rumble is a stickman fighting game drawn on notebook paper, with five doodle fighters and silly finishing moves such as folding your opponent into a paper plane or erasing them. Its 2 Players mode runs locally on one keyboard or on a shared touch screen. Player 1 uses A, D, W, S, F, G, H and Left Shift, while Player 2 uses the arrow keys, K, L and Right Shift. Tip: grab the pencils, staffs and pipes to interrupt your opponent’s combos.
Obby Highest Jump Ever
Obby Highest Jump Ever is a clicking and climbing game where every click grows your jump power, taking you from a 10M building up to 2500M rooftops. It has a 2P mode for shared play; press H to switch to it. It is the most relaxed pick on the list, which makes it a good break between the faster games. Tip: the game’s own advice is to try 2P for cooperative play, so use it when you want to team up instead of compete.
Setting up one keyboard for two players
Sharing a keyboard works well once you plan for it.
- Sit side by side. Put the keyboard between you so each player can reach their own keys without bumping elbows.
- Check the controls first. Each game uses different keys for each player, so read them before you start rather than mid-match.
- Keep the game in fullscreen. Each game page has a Fullscreen button that makes the action easier for both of you to see.
- Watch for missed key presses. Some keyboards stop registering keys when many are held at once. If that happens, try a different game or a keyboard with better multi-key support.
Game night ideas
A little structure keeps the evening fun and fair.
- Best of three. Play each game as a best-of-three match, then let the loser choose the next game.
- Winner stays on. If you have more than two people, the winner of each round plays the next challenger.
- Costume rule. Keep a Halloween hat or mask on for whoever is currently in the lead.
- Mix the speed. Follow a fast game like Crumple Rumble with the calmer Obby Highest Jump Ever to give everyone a breather.
